Now time for the Conservative Party to learn

I completely agree. It is very odd that Conservatives on the GLA failed to vote against a motion proposing free travel for asylum seekers. We need to understand that voters are fed up with mass migration.

What a great time for sanity. I have regained some optimism for our future.

An excellent summary Jacob; you are indeed becoming the new Keith Joseph albeit with a 2024 flavour. It will be interesting to see if the Conservatives or your competitors in Reform pick up any of these ideas, or alternatively share your sentiments. Labour is still somewhere between Davos/Stalin and will continue to drive us to that level where we all share an equal level of socialism misery. There is no hope in that direction whatsoever. I fear that, in the UK, we still have some distance to sink until ‘bad times makes good men’.

Thank you for your extremely generous comment. You may be right that we still have some distance to sink, but Rachel Reeves' Budget was an act of sabotage to the ship of state and we are listing heavily to port.

You are most welcome. I agree and fear the recent budget will only hasten the UK demise only quicker than any political party alternatives, including Conservatives. Who knows, as with Trump, moggmania might return to save us all! I’m sure my fellow subscribers will be cheering you on.

The Trump administration will be a counterpoint to the policies of the Labour government in many areas, and we'll be able to judge by results. Probably the most important contrast will be on energy and "net zero". The US is already producing record amounts of oil and gas. Trump will ramp that up still further, and will also vocally denounce what he sees as the "climate scam." That will be difficult for the UK government, and for most European governments, who have made terrible policy choices on energy and their people are starting to notice.

Our climate policies seem to me to be directly linked to our lacklustre economic growth. This applies to the UK and the EU. I tweeted a chart recently showing the cost of energy to industry, which demonstrates how uncompetitive the UK has come.

Great analysis Sir Jacob. Many of us Americans were fed up with the swamp rats in DC telling us we’re wrong all time. Now Trump has a mandate to do the things the economy and our civilization need. My favorite part of election night was watching the total meltdown on MSNBC and CNN. It was comical. The videos of woke lefties losing their minds has been kinda fun too..not gonna lie. I hope Great Britain changes soon.

Well observed, Jacob. It sure was fun watching the TV pundits and Harris's celeb supporters lose their minds!

I hope Trump brings peace to Ukraine we should then deport all the Ukrainians who have come here and been given houses over our own people on waiting lists.I also recall a story in Gloucester of a Ukrainian Refugee who was returning to Ukraine for dental treatment regularly .Some refugee.!

The name of the Ukrainian is Natalie Nehibra ,living in Corsham .Look it up.

What a fine article as usual..Whilst disagreeing with many things JRM is someone I could always follow .I am delighted by Trump's victory not least because I placed a bet on him to win !!!! A great man who has fought and fought and fought ,overcoming two assassination attempts and kept going. An incredible chap ,I wish him luck and all the very best with that terrible in tray he is inheriting ,though I am saddened for the poor Palestinian people,Trump has always been far too pro Israel for my liking, but all American Presidents are ,right back to the Yom Kippur war when Egypt almost defeated them and Nixon couldn't allow American weaponry to be over matched.Hopefully he will solve the Ukrainian imbroglio and suggest peace and send Zelensky packing to a sun filled retirement in Israel..

Your views on the global elite and their contempt for the electorate are correct but it will take more than Trump, especially when Europe shows no signs of changing. Trump was talking about a new golden age. I recall Gordon Brown talking about a new golden age of the City and then we had the banking crisis. Trump says he will end inflation, but he will have to close down the Fed and all the other central banks. He hasn’t said what he is going to do about the massive debt. Both China and Russia seem to be exchanging dollars for gold. America has taken advantage of the dollar as the reserve currency believing it will never end but they allowed the debt to get put of control and that now puts them in a weak position. It will be interesting to find out how he will end the Ukrainian war, which he says only he can do but only when he is President. How will he return immigrants to their country of origin? America has also increasingly become a welfare state and just like the UK that is not easy to shut down. We have all seen election promises that never materialise. I don’t have the confidence in Trump that you have.

The failure of central banks is something I will write about at some point, as they have collectively done a great deal of damage to our long term prospects. You are right to highlight that there is a gap between identifying the problem and solving it, and Trump only has four years. Margaret Thatcher had 11.

Trump will have four. Then Vance (or DeSantis or Ramaswamy) will have eight. That should be enough to get the job done!

I too am glad that Trump won but we should be wary of the intentions of Musk and Peter Thiel both are military contractors and very much part of the elites
