I don’t think there is a willing and ready or brave enough majority in Parliament to vote to: (1) repeal or annul the Human Rights Act 1998; (2) withdraw or dissociate from the ECHR, the U.N. Refugee Convention, the UDHR, the ICESCR and the ICCPR; and (3) repeal or annul the 1966 Right of Individual Petition and the ECtHR’s power of judicial review/recommendation.
That is the subject of my question, which is now twenty-first in line for your weekend program, which you requested we file with you to answer then.
I was reminded of it as I listened to your discussion above of the ECHR and the Refugee Convention.
If there were enough votes, those acts, treaties, conventions and protocols would have been repealed or annulled long ago.
It would be political suicide to do so. They are sacrosanct.
